Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch is nestled in the foothills eight miles south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It's also a working cattle ranch, raising primarily Longhorns. This ranch has been in existance since the 1950's, with the first set built in 1980 for filming "Legend of the Lone Ranger". This set was later torn down after production.

The next permanent set was constructed in 1983 for the filming of "Silverado". In 1989, Polama Films built what is now "the town" while filming the "Lucky Luke" series for 2 1/2 years.

Bonanza Creek works about 200 head of cattle yearly.

Besides the horses, cattle, ducks, chickens and geese, there is your choice of over 5 ponds, and numerous 300 year-old Cottonwood trees.

There is one movie town and two home sets. All buildings are four sided; not facades like most movie sets, structurally sound, and have running water and electricity, which cuts down dramatically on the endless costs for the producers.

All of this is spread out over several thousand acres of southwestern terrain.

Off and on throught the years, there have been various movies, videos, commercials, and catalog shoots at the ranch. The terrain is any Location Scout's dream! There are hills, prairies, Pinon trees, ponds, culverts, corrals, and a wide variety of props that can be rented.
